Professional portraits will show that you take yourself and your career seriously. They will help you stand out from the crowd instead of relying on poor quality photos, such as cell phone photos that were not taken professionally. If you want to look professional in the eyes of recruiters, employers and important contacts, take the time to have your professional headshot taken by an experienced photographer. Your professional ID photo should be of high quality and pleasing to the eye. It should present you as a confident, self-assured and convincing person.

FAQ

Business portraits are a type of business portrait photo commonly used for business websites, business cards, press releases and LinkedIn profiles.

But, if you're a CEO or business leader, you'll probably also use these portraits on a wide range of media.

These company portraits focus on highlighting the professionalism, friendliness and competence of the subject.A good headshot is the perfect first step to creating an impressive personal brand that helps you get hired faster, improve your sales numbers or attract investors to your business.

Have you ever met someone you instantly  liked or hated?

Maybe you knew why you felt that way about them, or maybe you didn't, but most people are prone to generating “first impressions” of others in as little as 1/8th of a second.    These first impressions can have a huge impact on who they hire, buy and listen to otherwise.

Nowadays, most first impressions start online.

Hiring managers use LinkedIn to screen candidates.Potential customers use the company's website to search for suppliers.Investors use the About the Company page to learn more about the company's leaders.

A good company portrait is essential to making a good first impression with these people – and therefore can have a major impact on your career or business.

It depends on your personality, your industry and where the photos will be placed!

For more conservative industries like law and finance, we recommend the standard suit and tie, or the female equivalent.

Otherwise, the best rule of thumb is to take a look at LinkedIn to see how peers and executives in your industry are dressed. Be sure to pay more attention to successful people versus those in your immediate network.

Remember, dress for the job you want, not for the job you have. If you're still not sure, ask us!

No need to go crazy on your poses for business portraits. In our sessions, we tend to focus on minimalist poses. We've seen other photographers force clients into really weird poses. But, we avoid this practice like the plague.

After all, we showcase your professionalism – not  our   pictures.

At the beginning of your session, you should warm up with simple, direct poses and just stand there and smile.

For more conservative industries such as law and finance, we recommend neutral funds based on white, grey or black. With these colors, we can get really sharp photos that convey reliability and consistency.

If you work in the creative industries, non-profits, or technology, and want your photos to have a little more “pop,” feel free to choose a colorful studio background or try an outdoor/office session. These photos often have a bit more personality.

If you're an executive, entrepreneur or thought leader, you should probably have several photos of yourself that you can use on all platforms. Ideally, you'd have a few outdoor photos to complement your studio shots.

If you have the exact same photo on LinkedIn, the company website and press releases, it can look a little amateurish.

There are three keys to preparing your portrait in advance.

  1. First of all, if possible, try to get some sleep, exercise and sunshine in the weeks leading up to your session. Your preparation will help ensure that the photos look as natural as possible.
  2. Secondly, make sure you wear the clothes of your choice a few days before your session. You want to make sure that your outfits still fit well and don't need to be dry cleaned.
  3. Thirdly, take a look at some previous photos of yourself and see if there are any you particularly like. When you arrive at the studio, show these photos to your photographer, this will help us find an angle that flatters you.

We have what you need! Most portrait photographers are unfortunately guilty of creating a gritty environment for their clients. They force you into uncomfortable poses and don't really understand what clients want from their session.Either that, or they rush you through the session.

There are also many photographers who refuse to specialize in one form of photography, so they are frankly not very good at one specific type of shoot.

At Sabma Digital, we strive to create a fun and stress-free environment for each client. In our studio, we play lively music and receive constant feedback from the client so that we can work on an incredible portrait that you will be proud to show off online.
